All sponsored children of CORD Sri Lanka were given Deepavali gifts on the day before the auspicious day so they can wear their new cloths for the celebrations. The 84 sponsor children from all around the North were given their gifts at CORD office, in Chavakachcheri and Killinochchi. Upon the arrival the field officers to Colombo they bought gift for each child according the their measurements, which weer individually wrapped. These children were elated to receive these wrapped gift which they generally never receive.
The kids were extremely excited to receive these unexpected gifts and they were mostly happy because they got to look fashionable this Deepavali.
