My name is Yogalingam Sivamathi, from Dutch Road, Chavachcheri, I am the breadwinner of my family as my husband is mentally unstable, thus is unable to engage in any work, I have two children; a son and daughter.
For the last two years I have been a member of “Rakuchchi Amman” Group operating at Changathanai; belonging to CORD. We have benefited by the loan scheme obtained from the Group’s savings facility, and we have learned to settle debts on time.
With the help of this loan scheme I obtained a sum of Rs.23,000/- and bought a cow. I sell milk to neighbours and other farms (in the mornings and evenings.) I get a monthly income of Rs.12,000/- from this business.
My name is Eswaralingam Maheswary, living in Changathanai. My husband is a driver. We have three children. I am a member of Rakuchchi Amman” Group in Changathanai. I got involved in the Savings Scheme, obtained a loan to maintain and manage a Poultry Farm. This business gives me a good income.
My name is Ravindran Uma. I live in a village called Kirambu. I have four children. My husband is a labourer, and the income he gets is inadequate. In this circumstance I am forced to do a self help job to provide money for my family. I was helped by the Rakuchchi Amman Group where I am a member, and obtained a loan, and commenced a small business making short eats such as Murukku, Point Pedro Vadai, Maniyok Chips. These are packed and labeled under the name of our Group “Rakuchchi Amman”. To further increase my income I obtained a loan and bought a cow. Now it has given birth to a calf. At present in addition to the short eats business I get money from the sale of milk as well. Thus I am able to settle the loan on a monthly basis and this also helps me maintain my family.
