The Staff and sponsored children of CORD Jaffna Office celebrated Pongal festival on 14th of January 2013.All the sponsored children gathered in the CORD office on 14th Morning and shard responsibilities among them for the preparation of Pongal .At 10 am in the morning they cooked the milk rice with jiggery and had pooja. After which the children performed drama, songs and other cultural activities.
For various reasons some of the sponsored children were unable to celebrated in their home which is why CORD as a sponsorship organization celebrated it with them. One our sponsorship children stated that she was upset she wasn’t able to celebrate pongal at home hence when she had the opportunity to celebrate it among family and friends she really enjoyed it and further went on to say that since this was her firt experience lighting fire crackers it made it even more memorable.
