Miss.Rajakulendran Shiyani
I am Rajakulendran Shiyani I am 17 years old, I studied at BT/Vipulananda Vidyalayam, Batticaloa and passed my G.C.E.(Ordinary Level). I could not continue my studies further due to my family financial difficulties. I then followed a Bakery Course run by certain Institution in Thannamunai, for a period of one year we were taught Cake Making, Icing, Bread making etc. On completion of this course they promised to give me job in Jaffna and wanted me to appear for an interview there. After three months of waiting I was informed that they had selected someone else. I met Officers of NGOs to find a job, they all advised and encouraged me to complete a Computer Course. My father is a tailor and mother prepares string hoppers, hoppers and supplying food two Offices. My younger sister is studying in Grade III, elder brother is employed at Cargills (supermarket) as a salesman. With this limited income I could not fulfill my ambition of continuing my IT Course. Fortunately my mother is a SHG member of CORD Sri Lanka in Thiraimadu, she informed me of SEWA ‘s IT Programme which I could get support from CORD to fund me for the training. I then made my application and was asked to report at SEWA on 14th October 2013 to start my IT course at SEWA. The training course is well designed and the trainer is very kind and understanding, I have noticed my improvement since joining and I am very grateful to CORD for helping to achieve my goal. Furthermore I am proud to say that I am a child of a SHG member of CORD Sri Lanka. Once I complete the course I am confident that I could get a job or else if they introduce higher courses in IT I will happily follow that course too.
