Mrs. Sujatha residing in Manmunai, Batticaloa previously earned nothing, her husband is a fisherman and she was dependent on his income. After the 2004 tsunami disaster she lost all her belongings, through CORD Sri Lanka she received training in tailoring and in 2007 she was granted a Zig Zag sewing machine. She now sews baby cloths, skirts, blouses, party frocks and since of recently she receives school uniform orders. Her income has now increased to approximately LKR. 12,000 per month. Sujatha is extremely happy he can lend a helping hand to her husband as his source of income is not steady and provide her child with a good education.
